Car Description misleading

Bought a car off ebay - delivered by the seller at the weekend (payment made for delivery). Seller insisted on bank transfer before delivery which was done. Therefore we bought the car completely on the ebay description. Unfortunately seller stated that car was rust and dent free - immaculate! Guess what - it is rusty and dented.
Can anyone tell me what my options are - this was a private car owned by an ebay business
Kind regards ...

You didn't view the item?! You bought a car on the ebay description only. Sorry to be blunt that is just stupid. How did you even know the engine was running OK? Most cars are basically sold as seen, most listings advise viewing. Have you spoken to the seller? What does he say? If you had at least of insisted on cash on delivery you could have refused delivery.

I'm not really up on car sales procedures but I don't really think you'll have much comeback

Not a lot you can do. View the car before the end of the auction or go and see it before you part with the cash.

I have bought two cars (cat D for repair) from EBay unseen but I have asked plenty of questions and only pay a deposit and delivery charge with a cash balance upon delivery. That way i am only stung for what i am willing to lose.

It's an odd one this, in the days before eBay no-one would have dreamt of ringing up someone advertising in the local rag and agreeing to buy their car without having seen it. Yet it seems to be on the way to becoming accepted practice these days. The OP had the opportunity to view before bidding, and paid up in full before having clapped eyes on the car - not the way to go IMO.

Having said that I've bought vehicles off eBay unseen, but only very low value stuff and I certainly wouldn't bid on any auction that required a deposit to be paid prior to collection. That way if it's SNAD you can simply walk away.
