  • Hope the op took the advise re getting an occupational therapist to assess his mum. I worked in this field and would always advise before any big purchase getting an assessment. It is imperative that the elderly person is safe transferring at top and bottom of the stairs and is able to understand how to use.

    Resurrecting this old thread to give an update - mil refused stair lift back in Oct/Nov but we have now told her we are going to deal with it - she must have one. Sil is going to start looking into it. My only concern is that we do really need one for her asap as when she is more poorly than usual, she struggles to get up the stairs.
    I will pass on the information that has been so usefully given here earlier on. Many thanks to all.
