Cheapest diesel with scrappage? 1.4 or 1.6
We have been looking for a second hand car for quite a while, but having looked there appears to be lots of unscrupulous dealers out there, so managed to borrow some money from family and going to try and get a new car through scrappage scheme, we have 2 that qualify! Got to be lower tax band and family sized, focus sort of size, but any suggestions would be welcome. We are in the midlands if that makes any difference.

The Hyundai i30 might be suitable. Hyundai have seen a massive increase in their sales due to their very generous scrappage allowance, in fact, they've been so popular that you will probably be lucky to get one before January 2010.
Have a look at their website and talk to your local dealer.0 -
If you are going for a Focus size then I wouldn't get the 1.4 diesel engine, it's just too underpowered for a car its size.
I have a Fiesta with the 1.6 diesel and I would describe it as adequate.0 -
Kia Ceed, 1.6 diesel thought the best engine. 7 year warranty!
Scrappage deals available.0
