Complaint Advice Please!

Hello,

Sorry if this is in the wrong place, but I'd like some advice on what to include in a letter of complain to Travelodge. Basically, I want some of the cost of my room refunded as I had an awful time with them last week. How can I get them to give me this? Would just coming out and asking for it work?

Basically I am annoyed because the reception staff were surly, the lifts didn't work, half of the food was off the menu and the bed was like sleeping on a bag of nails!!

Thanks

I usually write a complaints letter and then at the end I tell them what I want from them in regards to compensation.. thats the only way they'll do something otherwise you'll just get a sorry letter back

How many floors did you have to walk up.The lift not working is a fairly simple problem-things do break down. You have to bring this to the attention of the staff at the time, otherwise it just looks like you are looking for a freebie.

I assumed you spoke to the Hotel Manager or Duty Manager during your stay and listed your problems?

If not, I doubt they'll do anything

Food not being on the menu isn't a huge issue, most of the time its provided by an adjacent bar or restaurant.

The bed is a case of personal preference. Some people like a solid mattress and others like a soft mattress.

But really, you should have spoken to them at the time

What was the tripadviser review like
  • It is no good complaining here, when you obviously accepted the bed of nails in the first place.

You need a missus like Freda, with a breathe of Fire in her belly. Soome puts to rights wrongs in Hotel Bedroom.

And sometimes the staff do not know the bed was broken at the last weekend swingers party, unless people tell them!

No, it is highly unlikely to 'work'.
  • The Head Office almost never refunds you, you are quite likely to get a voucher from them for a free stay at any of their hotels, but the only way you would get a refund would have been to do something about it at the hotel at the time.

I was answering a specific question. That OK with you?

There has been plenty of other advice already given and there are a number of questions that have been raised and thus far remain unanswered by the OP.
