Combi Boiler and Gas Consumption

Hi all, this may seem a very obvious and perhaps stupid question...but when I moved into my property a month ago the combi boiler was set to having the hot water on all the time and the heating off (I will put heating on as and when I need it). Would it be more cost effective for me to have my hot water on once a day? I have an electric shower and don't do baths so surely it doesn't need to be on all the time?? I'm at work during the day so my washing up gets done in the evening...
Does it use a lot of gas being on all the time or would it not make much difference?

Depending on type of combi, you may save a few bob by turning it off because most combis have a small storage tank within them, this ensures hot water immediately available when tap turned on
However it is only a few quid a year, someone on here has worked it out, but sorry do not have a linkEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -

The 2 combo boilers I've lived and live with definitely don't have this storage tank.I'm not cynical I'm realistic
(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)0 -
Take a gas meter reading before you go to bed and take another reading in the morning before you have used hot water.
Let us know the answer.0 -

This should read that SOME combis have the option of a preheat storage tank.0
