If there is another crash where will all this money come from to pay back savers? Will Mr King and Mr Brown need to print more money  or is it time to sell your earings and lace your drinks?

I think Gordon should be sent to save the world again!

The UK based Financial Services Compensation Scheme is funded by levies on all financial firms (e.g. banks, building societies, insurance companies, IFAs etc). So in the end we pay for it through lower/higher rates or higher fees!

In the event of ING going bust, obviously this isn't covered under the FSCS so it would be the Dutch scheme that would be liable to pay you.
  • Rival Dutch bank?

I hardly think that a bank 1% of the size of ING is a 'rival'.
    From Poland...with love.

    Their

The books are sitting just there on the floor.
