speed of computer

My dell computer is about 2 monthes old
Up until last week it went like a rocket on broadband
Now it has slowed up a bit
Any ideas why ?
I have cleaned up disk c and defragged but no difference.

Not sure if you're saying your pc is running slow or your broadband connection is slow.

A good tip when you get in unexplained situaitons like this is to performa system restore, which with XP is quite easy....

From the Start menu go to All Programs - Accessories - System Tools and click on System Restore. Chose Restore my computer to an earlier time. Find a date (in Bold) when you were confident the computer was running OK. Click next and let XP do it's stuff. It willdo the rest for you.

I've used it several times, particularly after installing rogue software. Never had a problem.

IF your machine runs slow, usually some thing is in it that is causing the slow down.

Have you recently installed any software? Hardware? manually or from the net?

If so these might be causing the problem.

As wombat says run a scan with your anti virus to see if there is an infection, then run a spyware / adaware scan to see if that is there.

Try a few different brands of scan as some pick up stuff and others do not.
