I bought a wedding dress from ebay. Im not getting married for a year so whats the best way to store it without it getting too creased. I know I prob should have waited a while to get one but I totally fell in love with it and couldnt resist. Here it is http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8283219964&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1

            That's a beautiful dress
Can you hang it in a room where it won't get bumped?
The best advice I was given was to screw a hook on the ceiling, hang the dress from a hanger on the hook to stop it getting creased.
Have you got an old single duvet cover?
Cut a small hole in the top end to poke the hanger through, then pull it down so the dress is in the duvet cover. It keeps it fresher than a plastic cover as the fabric can still breathe. Here I go again on my own....0

Agree with Becles, don't use plastic it will trap some humidity and the trimmings may tarnish. I'm wondering if hanging it for a year will set hard to remove creases in it because of the way it's cut and the weight of the fabric. Why not have a look around your local wedding dress shop and see how they hang/store similar dresses which might be in stock for a year before they're sold. HTH0

Ive managed to hang it up in the wardrobe just now. My mum is coming over from N.Ireland in a month and shes going to take it back with her and keep it in her spare room. Might actually see about posting it to her now as its a bit too long to hang in the wardrobe properly.
Think it would be ok hanging for so long as long as its moved about regularly. Might look at getting a mannequin instead of just putting it on a hanger. That might help it keep in shape more.

don't worry too much about the creases. I got married in mexico in 2004 and my dress was quite full - but I had to put it in a suitcase cos the airline doesn't allow the proper clothese bags. Also the suitcase was one of the little wheelie ones that you take on with you - I didn't want to let it out of my sight. When we got to mexico it was quite creased but I got the hotel to get the dress steamed and the dress looked spectacular - even better than when i got it from the dress shop! then it came home with me again and I had a wedding party - got the dress steamed again and voila - perfecto. It costs about £50 I think to get it steamed, but it would mean you don't have to worry too much. However do keep it away from any animals cos they have a habit of sticking little claws where they shouldnt.
Oh and by the way its a gorgeous dress.DON'T WORRY BE HAPPY
