Administrator?

Hi
How can I find out if I have administrative rights on my PC? - it's only used by me (unless my daughter visits) and if i'm not, how can I change it?

Cheers for any advice

Assuming it is Windows XP or Vista then the first user when it was setup will automatically be an administrator. There is a Users section in the control panel where you can checkout the user(s).
  • Not that it's a particulary wise choice to use an account with administrative priviledges on a daily basis, but you can check out the accounts on the machine by going to:

Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management and then under the section on the left 'local accounts'

I was going to ask a similar question about administrators.
Vista stops an application I installed working, the software company said run as administrator. I have done this and I still get the same application has stopped working message. This program is Vista compatatble, but it won't work on my computer, AVG did the same thing to me so ended up using avast.

    An ideas?
