3 year broken expensive speaker system - any rights on repairs?

Hi, My surround sound Logitech Z-5500 speaaker system seemed to break at the weekend, and I've had it for about 3 years, it cost a fair bit - over £250, it hasn't had a huge amount of use....ie It hasn't been used daily, maybe a couple of times a week over the 3 years. I've yet to call the support line to see if we can work out what's wrong with it etc. I recalled the sales of good act email that was sent out recently about things being fit for purpose, possibly probably if you've spent quite a lot of money on them. I was jsut wondering if I may have any rights should they say that I have to pay an excessive amount for repair for example (I'm not sure what they'll say to be honest, I just want to be prepared really!) as it must be out of warrenty by now given that you only normally get 1 or 2 years of warrenty on anything these days, but I don't think 3 years of light to moderate use for an expensive bit of kit is very unreasonable to think it should still be working!
Any advice please?

I think 3 years for a fairly cheap speaker system is about reasonable. I'm not sure how a court would see this.
Actual use doesn't come into it as it's nigh on impossible to prove.0 -
I would say 3 years is fair use for a £250 speaker system (btw that isn't expensive). You could always try getting a repair from your original retailer but I'd doubt they'll play ball.0

They're actually about £350 new, (they're computer speakers so they are expensive for those, amongst the most expensive at the time I recall - certainly not expensive in terms of proper hi-fi surround though!)0

Yeh. They're speakers. Cheap ones.
Just because they've been marketed differently, this doesn't affect the price. Normal speakers work fine on a PC as long as you have the required kit. PC speaker packages generally just have everything you need built in (amp, speakers, headphone socket, PC connection etc), so bearing this in mind they're far far cheaper than purchasing a half-decent set of seperates.
The reason that these were probably the most expensive ones is because Logitech etc realise that your average World of Warcraft geek doesn't have enough money to spend on speakers, amplifier etc, so they need to create an affordable all-in-one package.
I think 3 years use is fine, so you may need to purchase a new set or pay for repairs on the existing one.0 -
