Advent calendar ideas for adults?

Hi,
This is mine and bf's first xmas in our own home, and i would like to make it extra special by getting a reusable advent calendar and having a little present for bf every day.
so i was just wondering if anyone has any ideas for what presents to ge? all i can think of is chocolates/sweets, but need someone with a better imagination to help me out! presents need to be small enough to fit in the little advent calendar pockets, and fairly cheap and cheerful (with maybe one or two slightly more expensive presents for near to xmas?!)

How about little notes or poem ? They dont have to fit in the calender you could get things bit bigger and leave a clue in there?
How about making a few tree decorations that you can use later on the tree?

this might be a but rude but if ur in a.... trying to think of the word... umm u could try puting little gifts in like condoms and lube. sorry if that is not the kinda thing you do.0

I like Gingerbiscuit's idea of notes - in fact I've made a couple of calendars (tree shaped) using matchboxes but have used the Survival/Guardian Angel kit ideas (from another thread) + a Christmas choc in each drawer. Wanted to keep each calendar's price to a minimum so have used the lines that go with each Survival kit idea (e.g. a paper clip - to hold it all together when it's falling apart, marble - for when you're losing yours etc).

I've made my mum and dad an advent countdown bag. They've had some rubbishy stuff happen this last year so wanted to make this Christmas as special as possible but without it costing a fortune. The bag is a brown lunch bag from Home Bargains, 10 for 89p. I have decorated it with some festive scrapbook paper and added inside 24 numbered envelopes each containing either a fact or question about Christmas or an idea for something to do such as: go out for a drive at night and look at people's outdoor Christmas lights, buy some mince pies today, play a Christmas CD today... I have included a reuseable advent calendar that I made using a beer mat and some other bits after seeing this fab idea. I have also included a homemade tree decoration and a CD that I got really cheap on ebay. The whole thing has probably cost no more than a fiver but I know my mum and dad will love it.

Rainmac - without being a total pain can I ask that you list your 24 advent ideas! I know I'm sure to run out but I LOVE this idea! Might get everyone into the spirit after our crappy year too!

I've made one for my fella this year. I'm going to have to just put sweets in some days, but so far the following things are going in:
- cufflinks
- a new tie
- £1 for him to spend on a cream bun in his coffee break
- a diary - using the customised diary idea on the Festive Fivers thread
- a tube-map that I am planning to make myself
- first-class upgrades on a train journey we are taking on 21st December
Not all cheap ideas but we find it quite hard to plan ahead, especially in December, but I'm also hoping to come up with some other ideas more closely linked to the things we have planned on each day (ie, we're going to a show on the 15th, so I might pop in an IOU for interval drinks).0
