Capitol One Con Advert

I applied for a Capitol One cc based on the 0% unitl 2007, as I believe others have.
What have they offered me - £400 credit limit @ 19.5%.
I'm sure the advert is just to get people to apply. has anyone got the offer on the tv of 0% until Aug 07?
my application has gone in the bin as I've already got better cards than that.

I thought the 0% til Aug 07 was just for BT's??Bringing up 2 handsome boys and 1 gorgeous girl the MSE way!Joseph born 19th December 2001Matthew born 8th August 2007Tara born 23rd January 20110

It is just for BTs.0

I only wanted the card for BT but they have refused that card completely and offered me a different card with a £400 limit and 19% int.

I've been offered a platinum card with 0% on BT until Sept 07, but they haven't told me my credit limit yet. They are waiting for me to send the agreement back with a BT request before telling me. However, I'm also waiting for the Halifax 1 card to do the same and their transfer fee is a lot less, so it's a bit of a waiting game.
I'm trying hard to be patient. Did they give you any explanation for their decision hilary1? Official DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0 -
The website says, in relation to the platinum 0% card..... "credit is available subject to status and conditions".
Whilst I have seen the advert but not paid much attention to it, I would assume somewhere in the TV ad there will be something similar.
It's not a con in my opinion. Obviously something in your credit record doesn't meet with their requirements for that card. All lenders operate like this - for instance me and my partner some time ago both had a Barclaycard, but I had a much better rate than she did.
It's more 'no knowledge of how lenders make decisions'.
I'm all for outing bad practice, but there is no con here. Sometimes people have to admit that it is the individual and not the company to blame. But that hardly ever happens on MSE.0 -
Most companies will flat out reject you. At least, although you didnt meet their criteria for the 0% card, they offered an alternative product instead of nothing.0

I have to agree. My Credit history is good, but not excellent or spotless, and after applying for the 0% until Sept 07 card, got given the option to have a card with a £400 limit @ 19.9%.
Needless to say I am not having a Capital One card! However, to avoid spoiling my credit history, I can't apply for another card for 6 months or so.0 -

Yes you can.
And its not all down to flawless history - I am in the same boat as you, but have been rejected quite a bit this year.0 -

No no explanation. I doubt its to do with credit rating as my other cards have high limits and I earn more now that when I applied for them a few years ago. A&L gave me a £5000 limit earlier this year.
Isnt it odd then JohnR had exactly the same offer as me?The curve that can set a lot of things straight is a smile0 -
