where to park in london?

Hoping someone here can help. I will be going to the Arsenal v Liverpool match at the Emirates stadium 2 weeks on Wednesday. I've looked into public transport from Cardiff and as it is an evening game, getting back would be a nightmare. Looks like driving is the best option but I've never driven to London before and haven't got a clue about parking.

A secure car park would probably be best and then get a bus/tube to the ground. Anyone here got any ideas?

Thanks :T

  • You're best off driving to an outlying tube station (West or south west best for you) and taking the tube. As Arsenal is on the Piccadilly line, try Hounslow or Osterley, somewhere like that which is quite close to the M4- the tube website will help you with journey times - it's about 50 mins across town, but driving from the west to Arsenal will take at least as long. You'll need to research parking around those areas but I'd wager it's easier and cheaper than trying to get to Highbury by car.

Sounds like a good idea. I shall probably do this. Thanks for your help

Not particularly disagreeing with Ginner but ---

I'd come further in on the M4/A4 and pick up the Piccadilly around Knightsbridge/Barons Ct/Earls Ct.

About 80% of single yellow and marked bay on-street parking will be free of restriction after circa 6pm-7pm.

Don't use a car park - Council = higher risk, Private = rip off and possible probs as seen all over the forum.

Park on-street on a road that appears fairly busy with pedestrians/near some shops, etc.

Not sure if Emirates is Arsenal Stn. If Highbury and Islington then just change at Green Park for Victoria.

    Where to park in London??

Wherever you want ...as long as the car is from overseas [gee, is that racist??]or a UK one that isn't registered to you.

DON'T get ambitious and park anywhere near Emirates - 'Match Day Zone'.

Totally advocate the Piccadilly Line strategy. We use Acton Town, at the end of the M4, plenty of street parking in roads just to the north, never had any trouble. Will take about 35 mins to the Emirates.
  • thanks for the replies. the Piccadilly idea seems the way to go
