Car scrappage scheme - will accept a pranged car?

Hi there,
Just a very quick question I am hoping someone can help me with.
My dad's pranged his ancient car and rather than informing the insurers (it will most certainly be a write-off) he wants to use the opportunity to get the discount off a brand new car under the car scrappage scheme.
Have checked out the criteria on direct.gov and we fit all of them:
The vehicle you are trading in must:
be a car or small van weighing up to 3,500 kilograms (kg)
be registered in the United Kingdom (UK) on or before 31 August 1999
be registered with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) or Driver and Vehicle Agency (DVA) in your name
have been registered to you continuously for 12 calendar months before the order date of the new vehicle
have a UK address on the registration certificate (V5C)
have a current MOT test certificate before date of order for the new vehicle (or within 14 days of expiry at the time of order)
have a current tax disc when the order for the new vehicle is placed (or within 14 days of expiry at the time of order)
be insured when the order for the new vehicle is placed
there is just a big dent in the back - will this matter as the car will be scrapped anyway?
Thanks for any input!

It can be a cube of steel if its still MOT'd and taxed and still count as a scrappage trade-in. It's going to scrap anyway. (Remember to cash-in your tax on the day though).0

i was told by a garage as my BIL was interested in ridding himself of a escort but it has been subject to an insurance claim (total loss) the garage said they dont accept write offs on this scheme apparently
but if yours isnt a write off you'll be fine so long as its taxed and mot'd when you hand it overSealed pot challenger # 10

Yes that is right. It's what the dealer told me when I did this last month.0
