Student loans repayments - marriage and babies!

Apologies if this has been asked before, I did search, but couldn't find anything.

I took out several student loans some years ago, which I've been repaying. Since taking out the loans I've got married and now had a baby, so I'm not working.

Is my husband now responsible for my payments? And if not, how do I prove my lack of income? I'm not receiving benefits or anything, so I can't actually "prove" that I'm not working.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

When did you take out your loans?

If pre-1998 you will need to request deferment each year.

If post-1998, SLC should contact requesting information about how you are supporting yourself. As stated you said your husband is supporting you then a letter clearly stating this is all that is required. If you go back to work you should be picked up by the tax system again.

As said above, request a deferrment form , then your proof will be a letter from hubby saying he is supporting you to stay at home and you have no income.

If it is a post 1998 loan they will not expect any repayment if you are not working. You may get a form asking what you are doing at the moment which would require a letter from your husband.
