Postal Strike

Is there any alternative to get my parcels to Op Herrick when the strike is on??

I have spoken to the BFPO who tell me that there are chargeable couriers who can take them to MOD London but the ones on their website tend to be for business customers.

Parcel Force has to be taken to the post office so defeats the object surely?? (Have asked on Ebay board about this though!)

How do you send parcels NOT via the Royal Mail???

  • I would have thought the parcel freight would move through brize norton so why not take them directly there? Speak to the raf movers.

DHL have an office at Kandahar - you can get it sent there but they will need to be at KAF or be able to get to the office to collect it.

They have been there for a while and do alot of business

You can't take post direct to Brize, they are not a post office!

BFPO and the Royal Mail Group have a very close working relationship and Royal Mail Group are very supportive of the BFPO and its customers. As a result of this support Royal Mail Group have implemented a procedure whereby BFPO customers will be able to continue to send mail items to BFPO oversees addresses throughout the period of industrial unrest. This service will support Service Personnel on operations but can also be used to send items to other BFPO addresses overseas. It is important to note that of the 3 constituent parts of Royal Mail Group, comprising Post Office Counters, Royal Mail and Parcelforce, only Royal Mail is affected by the CWU action. Effectively this means that there is a reduced letter and packet mail item (a Royal Mail item under 2kg) service between senders and receivers. However, Post Office Counter Services and Parcelforce will remain in operation and can provide their usual Parcel service although this is at a higher price.
To find out about sending mail during the industrial action please select one of the 3 options below:"

Mine have been getting there OK - taking between 7-11 days. When I took one along this afternoon the PO clerk told me that they are putting these packages in with the Parcel Force stuff so that the service won't be affected. Hope this helps you.
