Cheap deals early November

Now the kids have grown up, am in a position early November to get a cheap/late deal short (4 or 5 days/nights) hopefully anywhere in the sun.
Where are the best places/offers for these cheap deals?
Checked on the Last minute/Thomas Cook etc websites and they seem quite dear or is that just because it's still 3 to 4 weeks away?
Any point waiting till the week before to get anything or any other suggestions welcome.
