How much upheaval in replacing a back boiler?

    Thanks for all the comments. I've just had my first chap round to quote (my regular plumber who would definitely be my first choice if his quote comes out ok) and he didn't suck his teeth at any point, which I'm hoping is a good sign. He did say floorboards would have to come up, but hopefully not too many. Looked pretty happy with the new boiler position - ground floor near all the gas/water/drains etc. And the old back boiler defnitely doesn't have any cast iron in front of it - just an ancient flimsy gas fire, so hopefully it won't be as traumatic as that one your other half has just done, Canucklehead!

    Of course the one question I failed to ask was how long it would take - doh! I'll have to check on that when he sends the quote through.
