What can I put in a hamper for this family please

Hi we have family coming to us for christmas day, really looking forward to it. There are 5 children, 1 girl aged 13 and 4 boys ages 16-8yrs plus dad, single parent.
I have decided to do a hamper but what can I put in it. The boys love play station etc ofcourse but not my thing to buy more games for it. I have thought of putting pj's,slippers, socks, soap bag for the girl as I figure she deserves girly stuff. I don't mind spending £50-60 total but for 6 people that isn't alot. The boys all love sport especially basketball. I want to make a great hamper with lots of fun ideas as they deserve a fun christmas. I will check out dealextreme but not sure yet what to buy.
Any suggestions would be great.
PS the oldest loves hats where can I get a good price and what is fashion right now.
Thanks

  • Just thought I'd suggest a game? A family board game for you all - just seems very fitting for a Christms hamper?

Have you seen the movie hampers people on this thread have made? Might be an idea? Include a couple of family dvds (Coach Carter is about Basketball I believe?) and one for the adult? Add in the pampering stuff for the girl, maybe some wine for the adult, couple of fleecy throws, popcorn etc?

How about books? You could get the boys a book each about their favorite basketball player and the girl something she would like too. Their dad could have one too, of course. That shouldnt be too expensive, especially if you have a shop like poundland nearby.

You could include a cheap dvd each as well (it would need to be fairly cheap if you bought 6!).

Maybe a box of chocolates or sweets of some sort, like quality street or roses, as they could all share those? You could maybe get a box of alcoholic chocolates for their dad too.

You could put in some lynx or whatever brand the males like and another different one for the female as well.

These are all great ideas thank you I will be taking some of them on board for sure. Don't need to spalsh out on alchohol as they are T total for religious reasons but a couple of bottles of Shloer would go down well. Mum now lives abroad so I will be looking for girly stuff for my niece with all those men around her she needs a little bit of pink!!

Last year I made a craft hamper and she loved it. I would love to do her a small hamper but not sure what to put in it unless I simply make it a bed time hamper.

Don't mean to sound rude when I ask this but living in a house full of men, and the girl being of a young ladies age ;) if you know what I mean then could you put some practical essentials in there?? maybe in some sort of girly container so she can keep them hidden from the boys til she needs them (providing she doesn't already?) and/or maybe a bra or something? surely these things would be very difficult for her to ask her ddad for!

Also if you wanted to go down the bedtime routine then add in some cleanser, toner and moistouriser to encourage her to have a bedtime routine (will help with acne that could be lurking in her teens) and maybe as she is 13 you could buy her some nice satin PJ's something that will make her feel like a young lady rather than a 13 year old child!

Rusty that is great thank you so much. She is really shy even around family and dad well gosh I love my BIL but he is so shy it's not real the poor guy really struggles with this. He is an amazing dad and will handle whatever comes at him but it would be easier for her if she didn't need to ask dad staright away. I took some other nieces shopping a few years ago after mums sudden death, cousins, and stocked these girls up for 6 months!! even down to socks slipper socks etc. it worked great for them just forgot this time Once again thanks Rusty I really want them to have fun with us at christmas and also be practical.
been thinking about buying Boppit for them all??

  • As others have said i think a girly hamper just for her sounds lovely. Primark do lovely satin look p.js for £3 - £4 a pair. I always get my eldest daughter a pair for her Xmas eve hamper. They wash up really well and look great on so i would def recommend that along with maybe some make up (if she wears it), make up / face wipes, cheap perfume, and few pratical bits as RustyFlange suggested.... Also maybe a bath melt (similar to a bath bomb but better) from Lush. They are pure luxury and lovely.

You could also do a fun hamper for them as a family. Dvds - and as you suggest Boppit is brilliant fun. We have that and play it as a family. Its very addictive tho be warned! UNO is also a fave with us even my 6 yr old plays it. You can get the cards pack for about £5 or the uno extreme with the machine that spits out cards adds bit more excitment for approx £15.

Definately agree with the boppit. I bought one for DS when he was 7 last month, We have so many laughs and such fun with it, especially laughing at each other when we get it wrong and screw up!!! Personally I have never had so much fun with a game!!

Hope you manage to get things sorted.
