Debt enlightenment club

Well we have enough piggy bank clubs to provide a years supply of bacon butties so lets evolve into another area and try the above title.

The clubs mantra

1. We know credit and all it brings makes us poor, we shall not use it unless it benefits us (ie mortgage or business loans are ok)
2. We shall Not be seduced by clever marketing gimmicks into parting with MY hard earned cash
3. I will SELL before i buy on ebay, then when i have sold i will log off
4. Home cooked food will be my daily lunch
5. I will snowball my debts to pay the least interest and be debt free in the quickest possible time
6. I shall keep a spending diary to find my weaknesses
7. I shall always be happy, i may be financially poor for the moment, but i am rich in my mind and now have many advantages over everyone else
8. I will learn to say no to friends and other people who want to help me spend my cash
9. I dont care what car/clothes/house the nighbours have, they most likely dont own it anyways
10. I will simplify my life, i dont need a 1000 TV when a 50 pound one will do
11. I will justify my spending and cut back on the things i dont need or can get at a better price
12. Happiness cant be bought, but look forward to the day you can relax because you can take care of the bills instead of paying off the credit card company
13. I will help others with their problems, that way my financial sharpness will improve
14. SKY TV is a luxury not a necessity, (IF I CHOOSE) I will regain all my stolen, brain dead hours by doing something else
15. I will keep posting here, as I give support i shall also receive it
16. I will not judge others mistakes, I will help them to not make future ones
17. I realise the debt is my responsibility and no one else will take care of it, but i know i can do it, it only needs time.
18. The credit card/loan companies/banks are only interested in there profit, they do not card how you spend the money they give you they just want you working for them

Ive always wanted to be a cult leader, a bit like charles manson but without the killing (except of debts)

(any more points can be added, i mean look at the bible, stuff was always being added to that)

Here's another mantra for you: The bank is NOT my friend!!!

My bank really "helped" me when they called me in for a "financial review". Oh having money problems, here have a £27k loan. Really thanks! How helpful of you.

Er no.... they're really clever, they're going to be getting interest off me for the next 7 years (not really cos I will have paid it off by 2010 ;) ) They weren't interested in helping me out at all! Just helping themselves out.

    Kevicho,

that is one of the best posts i have read on here. If all DFW's read this i believe it can be a real inspiration. I am no longer in debt, I had my lightbulb moment, dealt with it and had a tough couple of years, so to all who may read this, you CAN get there and when you do, boy, will you feel great.

    thanks
