switching gas and elec I'm so confused

Options
Hi I'm new to this we are currentley with atlantic gas for both gas and electricity last year we owed atlantic gas for both and so our direct debits where increased to £82 for gas and £71 for electicity, we have now paid all what we owe and they have reduced the gas to £55 per month and elec to £62. I was looking on comparison sites and found that Eon are cheaper in my area, but have looked at various sites saying that they have bad customer service and they just put your direct debits up to a high amount, I am really confused and don,t know what to do, i want to save some money but if they end up putting up direct debits i would most probably be worse off. Would really appreciate any comments. thanks.

Remember that with atlantic, you get the "the 13th month free"

Most comparison sites don't take this into account

With regard monthly payments by DD, all suppliers are the same - they try to spead out the cost evenly over 12 monthly payments the total of which will hopefully equate to the amount you consume in 12 months. Suppliers will monitor this and change the amount they collect accordingly.

Remember how much they collect has nothing to do with how much the energy costs. If you do end up amassing a credit, your payments will be revised downwards or you may be reimbursed the credit (e.g. if you switch away from theat supplier)
