Virgin Mobile's unlocking policy?
Hello. Unlike on Tesco Mobile's site where this is clearly stated, I can't find anything on Virgin Mobile's site about their policy on unlocking PayG phones.
Tesco will unlock a phone for free so long as £30 or more credit has been put on it in its lifetime. I get the idea that Virgin is the same, or they may require you to be £30 in credit at the time of unlocking. But can anyone confirm, please?
Thanks.

Why don't you phone them up on 0845 6000 070.
or look at one of the other sites / threads on here that unlock them for free.**BERTIE**Did you Know: It costs more than £325,000 a day to run the lifeboat service? (with no government funding) Please donate to the RNLI0 -
Because I tried phoning them up and there was a "more than 10 minutes" queue, and the phone I'm interested in - a Sendo M550 - is not easy to unlock (requiring a cable), so is expensive.Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0

Fabulous - thank you.
"If you'd rather keep your phone and have it 'unlocked', then we can do that too. 'Unlocking' will be free of charge if you've spent at least £30 on airtime while you've been with us. If not, just top-up by enough to meet this £30 mark. This is to help us recover some of our costs and keep our phones priced as competitively as possible."
So it's the same as Tesco.Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0 -
Can they tell which specific phone you are calling from?
I anm quite happy to keep my new Virgin branded phone but would like to unlock my old Virgin phone to use one of the recent fee T-mobile SIMs.0 -
I personally found emailing virgin with my IMEI number the easiest way to get my phone unlocked - they emailed me back with the unlock code, and clear instructions on how to put it in.0

can confirm what others have said here, if you have topped up with £30 since being a customer of virgin they will unlock the phone for free....
so with a combination of my phone, my daughters and my brothers (all in my name as they were gifts from me) i got mine unlocked easily.
i think i have seen something on an unlocking site for virgin as long as its a nokia phone, not sure which one tho, but def one mentioned on MSE

You can phone Virgin CS from your mobile ( 789) for 10p per call irrespective of call duration.
Or from a landline Mon-Fri, 0830-1730, on 01225 895555 and ask to be put through to CSDon`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0
