Electric bill question

I'm with British Gas on their Click Energy 5 tariff, do you know why I have two rates, the first 162 kwh at 22p and the next 931 kwh at 10p.
Why would their be two rate?
How can I work out the average of a kwh when their are two rates?

There is no real average, depends how much you use.

The two rates are because you do not have a standing charge so the higher rate makes up for this. Effectively the standing charge is (22-10) x 162 / days per day. No standing charge tarriffs are only useful for people that use very little or no energy per billing period.

I'll rephrase it.

Effectively the daily standing charge is (22-10) x 162 / number of days billed.
