You're a star windym! I ordered a whole load of electrical and computer stuff for myself using the 30% code totalling nearly £4k! I'll be contacting T/S very soon!

Ive had a couple of PM's asking what procedure I followed so this is a brief summary if you chose to use it:

If I were you I would contact TS online, the Bradford office is covering the complaint for Freemans:

    West Yorkshire Trading Standards Service
    Trading Standards Complex
    PO Box 5
    Nepshaw Lane South
    Morley
    Leeds
    LS27 OQP

    t: 08454 040506
    f: 0113 253 0311
    e: info@wyjs.org.uk
    w: http://www.ts.wyjs.org.uk/

    Notes: Office hours for consumer complaints: 8.30 a.m. - 6.30 p.m. Monday to Friday and 8.00 a.m. - 1.00 p.m. on Saturday. Consumer Advice website: http://www.adviceline.org.uk.

I would enclose a screenprint of the offer http://img89.imageshack.us/my.php?im...eencap20qt.jpg and any relevant copies of paperwork (email confirmation of price and delivery & letter giving delay). Then be factual. State that you ordered the items as the code clearly said EVERYTHING was discounted by 30%. You feel misled by the advert and would not have ordered otherwise. Misleading pricing can be deemed an offence under the Consumer Protection Act Pt 111 (Misleading Price Indications), include this in your letter and state you feel Freemans have breached this Act. It was only about 10 days before I got the phone call from my TS saying that all these complaints had been received and that Freemans were honouring the orders. They asked me if I still wanted to proceed with my order, or cancel . They told me that Freemans would telephone me in the next week. If I get any problems with Freemans not phoning, I will go straight back to my TS and ask them to follow up. Now that the matter has been taken up by Bradford, you really shouldn't have any problems. Good luck.

    Windy,

Thanks for the more detailed response. I will follow that pattern. I had ordered the TV back in April and even had the email saying (ie. 30% off the £600 TV):

26 ins - Samsung IDTV LCD Cat No. 38C3191
    QTY: 1
Price: 420.00 Status: Delivery in 18 days
    ______________________________
    Total: 420.00

No letter even turned up to say it was cancelled but upon called they said that I should have received the letter. On Monday, I will follow your lead.

I ordered a tumble drier in April using this code. It was accepted and I got an order confirmation email, but it was never delivered. When I rang CS they said I could not have it using this code because the code was only emailed to a selected number of people and someone had posted it on a website and it had been abused.

Surely Freemans are going to ask you to prove that this code was sent to you
    personally.

No they haven't. But this is not the issue. The complaint was two-fold. The first part being the breach of contract (them saying they would deliver it to me at a set price), this is civil and would involve some costs in trying to recover. They could then say that the code was not sent to me.

The second complaint is against the Misleading Price Indications. This is a criminal complaint and could result in prosecution. This is the part I have complained about. In complaining about this Freemans have decided to allow the order to go through (as a gesture I suppose).

Either way, we cannot force Freemans to deliver the item at the price unless we won a civil case (in the first part of the complaint). This is unlikely, time consuming and can be expensive. So a 'victory' in the second part has got the outcome we wanted. So the issue of the code becomes irrelevant. I hope that is clearer.

It seems people who complained are now receiving notification of their deliveries! Hoorah! Freemans nil points!

I have to take my hat off to you! I've never seen such a succesful campaign against a retailer to get what we ordered. I sent my letter on Monday with a copy going to Freemans.

It's just arrived. Looks very very nice. Just trying to work out how to tune it in. Sky Plus code (if anyone needs it) is 646. :D

I made a complaint to consumer direct on the internet and over the phone and emailed a complaint to west yorkshire trading standards.
All I recieved was a call from consumer direct consumer advice line and local trading standards who said they couldn't do anything but both people said my complaint would be forwarded to the trading standards offices in the region of the retailer.
Am I the only one not recieved a phone call aboutwhen my TV should be coming. Please help.

From what I understand this is exactly what happens, your local TS passes it onto the local TS to the company.

Then in time you will be contacted by Freemans to arrange order, my local TS said if I have not heard anything within 7 working days to call back and he will chase it up for me.

This may be a slightly longer turn around than windym's order as from what I understand TS is now quite overwhelmed by complaints regarding Freemans.
