Which DIY hair colour to get?

i like nice and easy - the colour seems really natural. for highlights, i agree with basil, i like the loreal one in the red box.Not buying clothes for a year - it's liberating!0

I use the Belle Colour one, but have used Nice & Easy too which is also good. Just called Light Brown I think, or maybe Natural light brown. Any colour with "warm" in the name makes my grey hairs go gingery - not a good look!0

Hope it all goes well

Andrea, I do hope you can help me, I coloured my hair last night i use garnier Nutrisse, i find its the only one that covers my grey, I use a lightish blonde usually, only last night I decided to use light brown, and its gone a khaki colour, aaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh! I have slapped a bit of blonde on it and it looks a bit lighter, i have also washed it loads, any ideas what i can do PLEASE!!!!!!!!!Sam B0 -
Talking about 'silver colour dye', I have decided to let my grey come through but don't want to let it 'grow' out as it always looks terrible, I have been colouring my silver hair blonde for so long I didn't realise that it was so grey till my daughter pointed it out, so I thought maybe I could dye it silver and then the grey could just grow through in its own time and would not be so noticeable... I have looked everywhere for a silver dye but can't find one and yet I have noticed numerous young celebs with their hair dyed silver... anyone know how the do that?
I did ask a hairdresser and she said that she didn't know of a silver dye either...
I have always used Nice and Easy and find it easy and very good to use.. hair is very shiny and healthy looking afterwards...#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

Casting is the best - ive tried them all! but its not permanent - but then i think permanent gives a very unnatural colour. the only permanent i liked was the expensive one (about £9 - l'oreal??) where you also put highlights in - gives a more natural look.
all other permanents ive tried 'build up' and leave hair dull eventually0 -
My mobile hairdresser keeps on top of my roots with Casting, which I used before I found her, and have stayed with as she like it as much as I do. But the last couple of times I have had an uncomfortable itchy scalp for a few days afterwards, so I may have to try an alternative for a while. This thread is very well timed for me!0

I had the same problem once before where i died my hair brown on top of bleached blonde and it resulted in khaki. I rung my hairdressers and was told to put tomato ketchup on it and leave it 1/2 hour, it took the khakiness away(is that a word? hee hee) worked for me. hope this is of some help0

I use "Lasting Care" which is the semi-permanent version of Loving Care. The results are natural enough and it covers the grey v.well. I think I read somewhere that if you use a permanent colour then some time later put a different shade on top you may end up with a "funny" colour which is neither the first nor the second colour you wanted. I've found with semi-permanents they never really wash out anyway, though changing from say Light Golden Brown to Light Ash Brown does give a subtle (and acceptable) change in the final result. There is the never-ending battle with roots, so a monthly or so touch up is required, which keeps the colour fresh.0

I'm blonde but I'm nice n easy all the way (oops that sounds bad!). Have used it since I was 12  and I'm now 22. I've experimented with a couple more but never with the same naturalness of colour. People (particularly men) always think I'm naturally blonde (and I'm REALLY not any more lol!) and are very surprised when I tell them otherwise. The key to not getting too much build up of colour I think is to mainly put it on the roots when you're 'doing your roots', but then squeeze maybe a quarter onto the rest of your hair evenly. Making sure it's all over is pretty hard though when there's no major colour difference. If your hair is long and/or thick like mine, you may find you need two bottles, but as nice n easy is often on bogof it's still waaaay cheaper than a hairdressers. Hairdressers always say 'do you dye it yourself?' but I reckon they're just testing the waters to see if they can have a good old whinge about diy kits because obviously it's not in their interests to recommend it. I always so no I don't. That always shuts them up! As for fading and dullness, I think fading is much less common in permanents, and if anything reapplying the dye makes my hair much more glossy and makes me feel a million dollars for at least a week or two. The conditionar is amazing stuff. I get an itchy head sometimes from the dye but just put up with it!
No more than two or three shades from your natural colour idally. My mum uses nice n easy on her grey hair and it covers very well indeed.0
