Which DIY hair colour to get?

Can anyone recommend a permanent hair colour. I've decided to do a DIY job as I just can't justify the cost of having it done in a salon. I need one that covers grey (eek!) properly (in the past some of the ones I've used just don't seem to do this too well). Colour needed is light brown-ish. Anyone help??

Thanks all.

Hi I'm A mobile hairdresser so don't use diy kits. Some of my customers use them though and the best one for grey coverage is Belle Colour.
    Hope it all goes well

Thank you Artycards - when I read your reply the first time I thought you were telling me not to use diy kits, thought perhaps you knew something we don't!! Or maybe you do! I know the home ones are not as good as the ones you would use but sadly it's a case of needs must.

    Many thanks.

i use nice and easy, but i find boots own brand pretty good, it depends on what choice of colour you want. Brown shades colour well , red shades tend to fade more quickly.

give it a go , put vaseline around your hairline, it stops colouring your skin

Do you find the roots 'take' well - that's always the problem I've had in the past and yet it's fine when the hairdresser does it. I know the stuff they use is probably better/stronger or whatever.

I heard semi-permanent hair dye was better for your hair? Is that right?

Go to a training salon they are cheap and properly supervised throughout. The charge about the same as the packet of DIY . My recommendation is to go the the best salon you know ands ask for model day appointments.
  • Ive been searching for a lovely silver colour, they dont seem to make that one!!
