Why on earth did you ring back?
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

lol its only a 0207 number, im pretty sure they cant charge excessive rates from landline numbers anyway, worst it can be is 15 p a minute or something, cus they did it twice i thought, lets see there game, i imagine they want u 2 dial the 0870 number left on the answer phone and so on, to increase profits

i will check my bill when it comes, too see what the charges were, and let u know

anybody hear dof this call blocker thing u can buy? its £55 but apparently blocks everything and anything unwanted, its on the "tps" website, so it cant really be another scam, or a complete waste of money, what u think?

How much are unwanted calls costing you? £0, unless you call back :D

Either way it's a lot less than £55.

TPS has stopped us from getting calls nearly every night, to one every few months now (and as soon as I mention TPS, they normally hang up).

If you are getting so many despite being on TPS. You should review how or where you are giving your info out.

Quite a few of the freebies offers I see on this site have no privacy policy in place on the site. This is not only illegal in the UK, but gives the site owners a carte blanche to do what they want with any info you give them (including selling your details to as many marketing companies as they like).

I never sign up for anything that doesn't specify exactly what they do with the info you input and/or offers an optout from further contact. By being a bit careful where I give my info out, I get hardly any spam/marketing calls/junk mail.

    Same here.

Also, I enter one digit wrong in the telephone number box by mistake if I can't see any genuine reason for them wanting that information (I make sure I enter a number which doesn't exist though so as not to inflict cold callers on someone else).
