Disposing of assets??

If I have cash to pay my mortgage debt off is that classed as deliberatly disposing of assets??
Man and wife...but man gets made redundant. Wifes wages could just about cover but not including the mortgage. So..instead of using savings to cover the monthly payment we decide to pay off the mortgage.
What happens to benefits then?? And what if wife looses her job?? So many worries!

Why would your wife loose her job?
You are allowed to claim contributory job seekers allowance if you where a PAYE employee for 182 days (6 months).
However after that as you are a couple, your wife will be supporting you and if she earns over the government minimum (can't remember the amount but it's really low) you won't be entitled to income based job seekers anyway.I'm not cynical I'm realistic
