I personally hate it but one of my friends always puts it on pizza with other fish and muscles and octopus. He thinks it tastes amazing. I just hate it though xD0

As long as you cook it quickly over a hot heat it'll be fine, it's when you cook it for aaaages that it goes horrible and rubbery.
**Thanks to everyone on here for hints, tips and advice!**:D

We love squid. I always tend to slice it into rings regardless of the recipe and use the tentacles as well. It is amazing deep fried in a very light batter, that might go nice with your stirfry, but I also like it in spicy soups, paella, thai curries (I add prawns too).
I also like the look of a squid and chorizo and chickea recipe but haven't got round to trying it yet.0 -
I leave the squid for a while in a marinade of fresh lemon juice and crushed garlic. Then drain, pat dry a little and shake the squid pieces with seasoned flour. Stir-fry quickly in a little oil in a very hot wok.
It is also nice stir-fried with black bean sauce."Remember that many of the things you have now you could once only dream of" - Epicurus0 -
I usually choose my squid really carefully, treat it gently and then tip straight into the bin. :rotfl: Sorry, can't stand the stuff!!To be frugal, you need to spend money wisely, simply spending less is not enough. If you can't handle me at my worst then you don't deserve me at my best...Courage doesn't always roar. I agree with MsD any squid that managed to wriggle into my kitchen would be straight into the nearest bin. I think its probably an aquired taste that so far after 67 years I have managed to avoid0

Fry it quickly with some chorizo, then add to cooked pasta and toss through with a tomato-based sauce.
Toss in seasoned flour/cornflour then deep fry for crunchy calamari0 -

Beautiful with chorizo, fantastic lightly battered with tartar sauce & a lemon wedge.0 -
Squid is amazing but you have to cook it correctly or you end up with a rubbery mess, we do various squid dishes.
Squid with chorizo
Squid marinated in fresh chilli & garlic & lime juice with spagetti and basil. SOunds iffy but is delicious.
The trick is to get the frying pan very very hot, as soon as you put the squid in it will cool down so the hotter the better. and as soon as it starts to go a more solid white and curl at the edges it is cooked.0
