Want Iplayer programmes on my TV

Do be aware that iPlayer also lets you see the programme that is currently playing on a BBC channel. Do that and you need a TV licence. Watch the catchup programmes and you don't.bitsandpieces wrote: »Thanks - virgin's a good idea, but then I'd need a TV license...0 -
If you can wait a while, iPlayer will be launching on Freesat 'soon'. So if you've already got a Sky dish you could wire that in, connect the Freesat box to your router, and wait for it to launch. The only way you'll get 4OD is on a Mac or PC, and due to the DRM I don't see that changing anytime soon. Wii can do iPlayer, PS3 can do iPlayer and YouTube. A PC will look awful over those old connections (see how you like your desktop at 800x600!) but the videos probably look quite good actually, and a PS3 really isn't being used to it's best unless in hi-def, but that can wait for the next TV maybe?!0

This sounds great.
Which Freesat boxes have wireless connectivity built in?0 -
Missed out on the ebay box

OK - so PS3 won't play 4OD, and it sounds like iplayer isn't great. Maybe stick with slingcatcher or HTPC, then...0 -
buglawton - none yet that I know of I'm afraid. Just a LAN plug that you can wire to your router. This is much more reliable, especially for streaming video though.
bitsandpieces - have no doubt that the HTPC will be the most versatile, but may not be as easy to use etc. I use a MacMini BTW which is pretty living room friendly...0 -
most things are a compromise
for what you want it would go for an HTPC but how you integrate it is up to you
you wont need expensive hardware as you are not going for HD
i stream 720p stuff over a wired connection to the ps3/xbox no worries
however 1080p shows the limitations of my hardware and non gigabit lan0 -
Popcorn Hour A110 might do the trick. It has S-video output and might be able to do 4OD and iplayer.

Another easy way would be to get an iPod touch and AV cable.
You'd need a composite video to SCART adapter if you don't have RCA inputs on your TV. (Slight note of caution, I use RCA on my set and it works great but when I tried it through a SCART adaptor I only could only get a B+W picture)0 -
