I'm fairly sure that most of the ferries are overnight ferries and not convenient for day trips. You can do mini-cruises where you stay on board the ship. The man without a signature.0

If you are in Felixstowe with a car there are lots of nice things to do in Suffolk, or you could catch the bus or train. Ipswich has a lovely museum which I believe is free and the Christchurch park would be nice for a winter walk afterwards. Woodbridge is nice, lovely walks along the river, it has some nice shops but quite pricey. If you are staying late November there is a Christmas market in Bury St Edmunds which is fantastic. Try the website "lets go east of england" for ideas and click & print 2 for 1 vouchers. Hope this helps and have a lovely holiday.0

Bury St Edmunds is about 35 miles from Felixstowe, you could do the brewery tour.

Theres no longer a passenger ferry in Felixstowe - or at least I didn't think there was?
Theres not much in Felixstowe - its rather a depressing town. I would hop in the car and go to Ipswich and along the Suffolk coast - theres some lovely places to visit throughout Suffolk. Historic Lavenham, the Ipswich pennisula is a lovely area so is the newly refurbished Ipswich docklands area. Beaches such as Dunwich and Southwold are all about an hour away. If you stay in Felixstowe you will be rather disappointed - as I can probably say, that after Lowestoft, its probably the most depressing Suffolk town. It was recently on one of those programmes that showed the percentage of shops that had recently closed. I originate from Suffolk and know theres much lovelier places but you need to get out and about in a car.:rolleyes:0
