I've been looking at these two myself. From my experiences with both,
Objectively:
- The Nano is smaller, and lighter. I think the Samsung is nearly 1cm thicker.
- The Nano scratches a lot more easily.
- The Samsung has a far better battery life, around 10 or so hours more.
- The Nano has a few extra features, like a calendar etc...
- Can install Rockbox on the Nano but not the Samsung.
- The Samsung supports .Ogg files (what I encode my music in) but the Nano only support Ogg if using Rockbox (which reduces it battery life).
- Samsung has a larger screen, although you can only view photos on them which is pointless IMHO.
- Samsung is fractionally cheaper (comparing 2gb versions).
- Nano doesn't have the ability to drag and drop files without using 3rd party software. The Samsung does.
- Both use an annoying proprietary cable/connection.
Subjectively:
- I thought the Samsung sounded better. Neither are as good as the Shuffle, I did prefer the Samsung but the difference wasn't huge.
- The Nano looks more appealing.
- The Samsung has a dedicated volume control wheel which I preferred."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -
What about a Sandisk Sansa E200 mp3 player with video play back. They come in 2gb, 4gb and 6gb. You can also add a memory card to increase storage.
