Are you sure they will send you a cheque? Normally they credit the bank account if you were paying by DD ... but they will send a cheque if they don't have the bank account details e.g. pay on receipt of (estimated) bill.
As you were promised the refund within 10 days, and you haven't had it, its sounds reasonable to now chase them up."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
If they don't pay you within a specified time then you are entitled to a compensation payment from them. I'm sure I read that in their Customer Service booklet. I'm sure we are in credit with them, not had a bill from them for ages but they read the meter just the other week. Phone them up and complain, double check your bank statement just incase they have credited it back on your account first.0

According to the Scottish Power Representative, who sometimes posts on MSE, they always repay credits by cheque, not DD.

Thanks tuggy12.
Post#18 of that thread is also quite interesting:keithdc wrote:'As soon as' seems to be a slight exaggeration- took 6-7 weeks and an email to get mine!!
Perhaps the OP should start chasing up 'As soon as'"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
Scottish Power do indeed send cheques to cover credit.
One of my final bills said they would send a cheque within 14 days, which they did. I had to chase the other.
My recommendation is to chase.0 -
Same for me; I got the final account for gas from SP promptly, followed closely by a cheque for £145; However, I didn't get anything re electricity until I chased.
I have now received the final account for electric showing a credit for £17 but the account says nothing about the credit repayment.Verbally I was assured a cheque would be raised but I suspect I will have to phone yet again to ask for the repayment. I suspect that their system is set up to repay credits by cheque automatically if the credit is greater than 1 months payment. If its less you appear to have to chase.0 -

My final bills are approx the same. Strange that only the gas bill mentions a cheque refund. I would have thought consumer law would require a refund of any overpayment automatically, whatever the amount.0 -
Hiya
In regards to any credit you have with any supplier, it can take anything up until 21 working days for you to receive your cheque.
Hope this helps.
