AAArgh! Pictures too big to list on ebay

Hello,

I'm trying to sell my mobile phone on ebay. But having taken some beautiful pictures of it on my 4mp digital camera, when I try to upload them to list the item it takes ages, then comes up with message saying the pictures are too big (memory wise I'm guessing). I don't think 4mp is particularly extravagant and I'm sure I've seen other listings with equal or better quality pictures, does anyone know how I can list my pictures?

Also I'm not sure how they will turn out. What size will they be, what layout (if I just list them as normal without any fancy tables etc). Ideally I'd like them to look like this

with them stacked on the right hand side so viewer can click on it and it becomes bigger. Does ebay just do this automatically?

I've searched through this forum and there are stuff on using photobucket, and cropping things etc, which I'm finding all very confusing. What do I need to do just to get some decent pictures neatly laid out? Help!

Check that the camera is not set to fine quality - this is great for printing, but unnecessary for the internet. Just use the smallest mb.

I take my ebay pics using just 0.3m on my camera and have no problem with them.

If you download irfanview you can resize your photos before uploading to ebay.
I find it very easy to use and am an ebay novice!

I think it's a bit extravagent. 4mp would not even fit on a computer screen. Even a full 10241x768 display is under 0.8mp.

eBay's "supersize" is limited to 800x600 which is less than 0.5MP.

just resize the photos in an image editing program (theres two free with win XP) or set your camera to a MUCH lower setting

Reducing the size of photos, width height and file size, is straightforward to do using the free image editor The Gimp (which can be downloaded from http://www.gimp.org)

The standard size for an ebay hosted picture is 400 x 300 pixels and measures about 37kb.

First crop the photo to remove areas of unwanted background. Then resize the result image so that it has a width of 400pixels. The file size can then be reduced by selecting "save as" and adjusting the quality level.

When uploaded to ebay this will give a good result.
