£42 for about 2 hours use. Great.
I hate this company with a passion they sit with a complete monopoly over the graduation ceremony market and charge what they like.
Absoultely disgusting. Is this a government owned company and this is just a sneaky student tax? :mad:

When I graduated the robe hire for me was J Wippell & Co and it only cost £32!
You have some choices here, You can not attend the graduation cermony, Buy the robes and gown or quit moaning!

A resourceful/ enterprising student would be looking at ways to reduce or eliminate the cost altogether. You don't get a good degree by moaning!Gone ... or have I?0 -
i appreciate the cost is a lot - but making everything a 'tax' just sounds like a poor tabloid! (and incidentally, i'd call it a graduate tax if anything

I can't wait to hire my cap and gown next year, I don't care about the cost, it is going to be a proud moment in my life. I will be ordering a life sized photo to put above the fireplace

a graduation ceremony only happens once in most students lives (twice for me so far though lol), so i realy don't think it's that expensive! as already said, they have to clean and maintain the gowns, and also pay their staff to sit there all day making sure people get the right caps/gowns etc, helping them fit them and also to be there when everyone returns the gowns at the end of the day. also, i wore mine all day - picked it up before the ceremony and kept it on all afternoon for the departmental photos/party/dinner etc. so all round i don't think it's bad value at all!2011 wins: £481Eleventh Heaven: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 110

Its hardly cheap, but I agree with others with all the costs involved providing staff, cleaning etc etc.
I was more annoyed I had to pay £5 more to have one extra band on my hood cos I did an undergraduate masters rather than just an undergraduate degree,0
