Somerfields card didn't even need registering, or at least not with genuine details.

No they did not need registering at all. As I got one from day one and filled in the form and you could use the card straight away. I never sent the registration form back, just forgot ;)

And I was still using it until the other week.

I also have no idea why they introduced it either. Numpties if you ask me. Or more money than sense.

Well I registered mine and today got a gift of £2 to spend at Somerfield to compensate me for its loss. Says something about how much it was worth really- can you imagine waht Tesco would have to do to compensate for the death of clubcard:eek:

I didn't see the point in requiring customers to obtain a card to get offers.

Given the choice of Tesco, Somerfield and Morrisons within a few hundred yards of each other, I never felt it was worth bothering with Somerfield's saver card, when I could buy Tesco's or Morrisons' offers without one.

In my view, the card probably discouraged people from shopping at Somerfield.
From the 17th may all Somerfield's great offers will be avaliable to everyone. We wanted to make it as quick and as hassle free as possible for you to get hold of our offers. So from now on you will no longer need to swipe your Saver Card to benefit.

    Somerfield's great offers
great offers?! somerfield are one of the most expensive supermarkets out now. even my local corner shop is cheaper than somerfield.

tesco clubcard is spot on - they have it that you get 1 point per pound and get vouchers, with the savacard it was crap, no points (like they said they would have) no vouchers (like they said they would) and a complete waste of money
Never do things tomorow when you can do them today.

The best thing about Somerfield Saver Card? The key-ring sized cards are great for applying polyfilla etc into small, hard to get at holes!!

If you use Somerfield just for special offers and their own value line of goods then the price will be the same or better than any other supermarket.

In my local town we have a somerfield and sainsburys Oh what a choice :rotfl: . If I want to go another supermarket I then have to go 7 miles. I then have a choice of Asda or Tescos.

I used to go to Somerfield a lot because it's the only one around here (in walking distance) apart from Co-op. I remember going in when saver card started and the check out girl kept asking if I wanted one, and I said no. I don't like supermarket cards very much. I didnt see the point of this card really. It wasn't marketed very well. I go to Co-op now, or if I'm lucky I get a trip to Tesco in my flatemate's car! :p

shame it went, as someone else said, i used to get vouchers for £7 off a £30 spend, i presume becuase we spent a fare bit there over the last couple years but we used to get these vouchers each week and stock up on the bogof stuff like bog rolls which your never gonna stop needing so £7 per £30 was a good money saver. now we pay the same price and dont get the vouchers. and sainsburys is my only other supermarket for 6 miles. ( im not including aldi as the missus refuses to shop there).
