Whirlpool Products

I bought a Whirlpool American Fridge Freezer in December 2002. After several problems with electronics, it was replaced in April 2003. The ice maker ceased to function and needed 43 visits to sort it out. The water dispenser broke and had to be replaced. Now 16 months after the replacement was supplied, the door seal has started to crack. Whirlpool refuse to replace this saying it is out of warranty. They agreed to send an engineer - to replace a door seal!! at £70 + parts. I thought goods had to be of merchandisable quality. Surely a £900 appliance should perform better than this.
Nice to save.

;)Thanks Cathy - I will remember that in future as we have more things that need replacing. On the other hand, we have had Belling and Neff products and had very good service.

Bye the way, as a 'newbie' how do you manage to get a pic on the left hand side of the box? I have tried to insert but nothing works.

  • Further to my recent moan about my Whirlpool Fridge, I wrote a proper letter as opposed to an email. The reason was, I saw a job advert for Whirlpool stressing their good customer care policy. Well I think they just do not care about the problems I have had with a near £1000 fridge freezer. When I asked how long they expected a door seal to last they thought that 15 months would not be unusual depending on how often it was opened, where it was situated etc.
One thing I was taught on a Welcome Host seminar was if a person is not satisfied with something, they will tell all their friends about the bad service, all their relatives, all their work colleagues and anybody else who may be interested. It is therefore never a good thing to provide a poor standard of customer service as I will indeed tell as many people as I can about my problems with Whirlpool.

  • :DSuccess - I hope. I followed somebody's tip on another subject and sent an email to the UK Chief Executive. Two days later the Service Manager, who was extremely apologetic, friendly and helpful said that there had been an internal problem and that I am now going to get my repairs carried out. It has restored my faith in customer service to some extent but it is worth persisting when you know you have had a bad deal.

When the repairs are carried out I will add a comment under 5 star service.
    Nice to save.
