I tried to pay argos store card using my credit card the other day to be told it wasnt possible as you cant pay using a credit card!
This morning i received some credit card cheques from mbna and it says my rate is 15.9% which is cheaper than argos ( about 29% i think) and a 3% fee for doing so
can i pay argos using one of these cheques i owe about £500, or should i pay myself a cheque into my bank (is this possible with these cheques).
sorry to sound dumb but i've never used these cheques before.
thanks

You could phone up your credit card company and ask if they have any special rates for a Balance Transfer and do it that way over the phone.
or if you use the cheques look carefully for any charges in them0 -

thats right you cant transfer due to to many digits but i was told there is a way around that you simply take the first 2 numbers of the lady at argos told me this herself!
but this is not an option anyway as mbna have blocked me doing balance transfers! this is why i was wondering if i can use one of these cheques? thanks0 -

can i pay the mbna cheque into my bank account and do it that way?0 -

Have you estimated how long it will take to pay off the Argos bill without an MBNA cheque?
If you plug some numbers into this credit card calculator, you can estimate the time it would take to clear the balance at 15.9% APR and 29.9 APR. You can also see the effect of increasing your payments by a few pounds

Note: if you have existing transactions on your MBNA card charged at different rates, use of the cheques may affect the way payments are allocated (See Order of Payments). Also, remember not to spend on the card.People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -
brill thanks for that i think i will pay it into my account then and not spend it! and then pay argos by my debit card that way i know that argos are not going to refuse it etc or its not going to suddenly get lost in the post0
