I decided to move from BT to Talk Talk - big mistake!
I ordered over the internet and recieved an email telling me the changeover would go live on 28/09/09.
A couple of days later I received a telesales call saying I'd been on the Talk Talk website but hadn't signed up and they wanted to know why. I explained I had but the man said my order wasn't showing on the system but he could set it up for me. I declined and said I would contact the sales line myself as I didn't feel happy giving my personal details to a cold caller.
Rang the sales line who said my order wasn't on the system so that man set it up again.
A few days later, I got two different letters in the post with two different order numbers and two different dates in October when the line would changeover.
Rang customer support who said I had three orders on my line and she didn't understand why. She cancelled the two additional orders and said everything would go through as originally planned on the 28/09/09.
The line was changed over on the 28th, but the voicemail wasn't working. The following day I rang them to check it had been included on the order. I was told it had been missed off by mistake, but they would get it on within a couple of days.
It still wasn't working by the end of the week, so I rang again and was passed round various different people until someone told me it would be on by the end of the weekend.
There was still no voicemail, so I called again on Monday, did the speaking to various different people thing and again was promised it would be on within two days.
It still wasn't switched on by yesteray so I rang again, spoke to a number of different people and then again got told it would be switched on within two days. I got told off for hassling them as their technical department is very busy. Tongue biting moment there!
Voicemail is important as I use it for work and I really want it back on. I'm fed up with having to speak to numerous people (and giving my full name, address, postcode, date of birth and email address each time) only to be fobbed off with the two days thing.
I did sign up on a minimum 12 month contract. Is there anyway I can go back to BT early as I'm so annoyed with Talk Talk's poor customer service and the lack of voicemail service, or do I have to see out the full 12 months?

Annoying for you perhaps but, undoubtedly, a blessing in disguise for your friends and family.
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=3666273&postcount=3Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
