Also looking for an unusual (pretty!) venue in Merseyside so if you do find somewhere please share. We're trying to keep the budget as low as possible but also somewhere nice. If we can keep the venue budget down we'll be able to get married sooner rather than later

    Thanks

Somewhere like Hillbark in Frankby is nice, or Thornton Hall in Thornton Hough. Speke Hall is lovely but probably expensive...if you wanted unusual, what about Knowsley Safari Park or Chester Zoo (I know it isn't in Merseyside but it's close!). Leasowe Castle in Moreton is also pretty...or maybe Goodison Park or Anfield if you're of that persuasion?

I'm from Wirral originally (bet you couldn't have guessed) but I'm getting married in Leeds (lived in Yorkshire until recently).

Golf clubs aren't at all unusual. We looked at three venues and all were golf clubs!

    We're having ours here:

You can see the golf course from the windows. :)

Football clubs are a bit different - they tend to incorporate the footie. E.g. guests might be allowed into the stadium proper. It's more themed. More and more golf clubs though are doing weddings as they're a good money spinner. They're pretty much like any other country venue. Just tend to be in the middle of a golf course. :)
  • I worked in a golf club last summer, and it did a lot of weddings - at least one a week, usually more like two. Granted though it did have a bit of a monopoly on the local area as it was part of the only biggish hotel for about ten miles each way, but it was reasonably inexpensive and had nice views over the course.

Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")
Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")
  • One of the venues on our shortlist was a golf course - we decided against it in the end as we didn't like the attitude of the wedding coordinator. Lovely setting though!
