This is now online and can confirm that the max initial deposit is £500 and not £750.

    They have some info online,

    http://www.lloydstsb.com/savings/monthly_saver.asp

    more terms
    http://www.lloydstsb.com/legal/savings_legal/monthly_saver_inportant_information.asp

    but can't open online

Used telephone banking ( my main banking already with them) also said £500 max opening but I setup a standing order from 1st June , so actually paying in £750 within first month.

Just returned from the branch. The staff hadn't opened the paperwork, not allowed until tomorrow, but anyway the manager went and got it. (Incidentally they are not allowed to put up the posters in the windows until June 15th, when some other loan promotion ends!). Yes agreed, the opening initial deposit of £500 + £250 STO in first month. However, decided to go iagain on 30th of this month and open it then, so that the payments go out on 1st June (using an internal transfer from Lloyds Online) so that I don't get into the possible complications of opening at the end of one month and having £750 potentially having about 3p interest for a handful of days. Internal transfers take 3 days for a Standing Order to be set up I was told.

It's annoying - and unusual - that it can't be opened on line.

With a ( loss leading) product like that , suppose they want the opportunity to cross sell other products
