Hi,
I hope someone can help. I'm lookin for a cheapish hotel near Heathrow that provides a shuttle service to the airport. Breakfast would be a bonus but if not will make a plan for the children at the airport.
Other than Travelodge can you recommend others in the area? Thank you.

I have got the Sheraton Heathrow hotel, via Priceline for a little over £40. It is within the zone for free local bus travel to transfer to and from the airport is free. Check a seperate thread on this forum for further details on priceline and how to bid.0

Hotels within the boundary of Heathrow don't offer shuttles - you can either use the free London buses as mentioned or the Hotel Hoppa for £4/pp each way...we normally find that booking a taxi is the best option for us...we just flew out of LHR a few weeks ago and a £10 taxi that dropped us at our terminal won out over £8 for the pair of us to ride the Hoppa to the central station...the free bus was close, but not close enough that we wanted to schlep our cases to it on the morning of our flight (I rode it to the hotel though).
We recently stayed at the Park Inn through holidayextras.co.uk for about £69 - it was an 'under cover hotel' but pretty easy to narrow it down to the Park Inn before we booked. It was very close to the free bus and decent enough for that price - totally not worth the £129 they were asking for Park Inn named as Park Inn though.
If you can get Sheraton Heathrow for £40 that's a good deal - but remember with Priceline you can only say what star rating and area you are looking at and could get any hotel that fits that criteria. We've used Priceline with excellent results in the US, but I believe you have to do your research first - be sure you're happy with ANY of the hotels that fit your criteria to avoid disappointment...we prefer to stay on the Bath Road so we don't use Priceline for LHR as some are quite a ways away in our opinion...but I get stressed about missing flights so I don't like to stay futher out, others may be fine with it.
This is a good resource.
http://www.betterbidding.com/index.php?showtopic=123& - you can see what hotels might come up - but it's not necessarily comprehensive, you may get a hotel that's not listed.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
Thank you ferf1223, your post help me a great deal. A taxi would definitely be easier. Will have kids with us so schlepping our suitcases and other belongings to a bus stop will be stressful in itself.

I'm confused, when I search hotels near Heathrow it brings up thousands with prices. Is that the price I pay or does it take me to a bidding screen? Thanks

You can book from the main page, but it's not normally the way you will get the best price - from the screen you're looking at you're just booking a specific hotel as you would through any 3rd party as you see the name of the hotel before booking.
You need to look at the name your own price option.

But remember that if your bid is accepted your card is charged and you can't change your mind if you don't like the hotel that accepted your bid.
Oh, and check the terms - last I saw you could only book on Priceline for double occupancy...so since you've said you'll have children I'm not sure if it would work for you.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0
