my wife was made redundent a few weeks ago,and is still waiting to paid her payment..she also had 1 weeks holiday outstanding which she was told would go on her redundency payment even though shes got a letter saying holidaypay would be on her last wage slip...how is this possible ? she has 4.5 weeks pay as she has 3 years service,so 3 weeks notice was owed in liue.she took1off paid but agreed to cover someones holidays that lasted 2 weeks so i think surely she should be paid again for the 2 weeks? advise please

She will need to contact the HR directly. If she was owed holiday she must contact them directly. Some companies are cruel in the way they say, if you don't take the holiday, you don't get money. It is stated on the HR employment page.
As I always say, who speaks the loudest, gets noticed first.Motto: 'If you don't ask, you don't get!!'

Unless the redundancy notice says she will be paid PILON she has just worked her 3weeks notice, 1 as holiday.
This is normal, PILON is optional unless in the contract.
redundancy pay should be paid at termination usualy companies like to add this to the final pay to keep the admin costs down.0 -
so is the next step writing to the employer..if they ignore that then what?0

isnt it against the law to withold payments?imof the impression they think if no one kicks up a fuss they can get away with it0

A reminder that any redundancy pay should be tax free. I expect this does not happen in many cases.

i phoned acas yesterday ,and apperently the holiday pay should have been paid on the last wage ,and the witholding of this[ ie putting it with redundency pay]is illegal..im pretty sure this will go to an employment tribrunal and hopefully these wideheads will behit hard in the wallet.0

Yes, that's where it hurts the most!
Best of luck. My partner applied to take his case forward to tribunal in April and at last a date has been set for November. Have a look on the BERR website, there's solid information there about employer responsibilities which may help you both feel more knowledgeable, it helped us.Thank you to all who contribute to all of this super site:smileyhea !
