2 monitors?

Is it possible to have two monitors on my pc?

Id like to have it so the one I have at present is the one I work on, and a second monitor which will be more used for having another application open such as my itunes? or perhaps watching a dvd on?

What would I need to do this? Apart from a second monitor as I know I need that!

As long as you have another port to plug the monitor into you don't need anything else.

The pc will recognise 2 monitors are attached and give you the option to extend your desktop in the display properties splitting the desktop over 2 screens and you just drag your windows over.

Cheers mate, I dont seem to have another bit for a monitor to plug into BUT ive just looked on ebay and you can get adapters to allow you to connect two monitors into the one port.

    I presume that will work?

No, that would give you two copies of the same thing. You need a new graphics card. Does the monitor currently plug into the I/O panel on the motherboard, along with USB stuff etc, or does it sit on its own metal bracket below this?

Ahh, on the back of my pc there is only one bit to connect a monitor, there are spare usb ports but not a bit for another monitor.

So I just need to get a new graphics card that has two ports? I wonder if i could fit that myself? My techie mate is in china for 6 months so he cant do it for me :(

Fitting a new graphics card is an easy 10 minute job. If you can take the case off, then you can fit the new card-it just slots in.

Techically if you can put a tape into a tape deck you can change your graphics card over, its that simple....however its making sure you get the \RIGHT graphics card that will fit your PC
If you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly

There are no wires to connect, it just slots in. However you need to purchase a graphics card that is matched to your motherboard and processor and of the right form factor, not just one that has dual monitor outputs.
Best method might be to take your existing card into the shop with you.
