how long does it all take

Hi,My sister and I are currently selling my late mum's house. The survey was done on wednesday, what happens next? How long will it take before we know if/what needs doing from the survey? Not sure what kind of survey the buyer had done but he has previously been round with a builder who spotted some damp - damp was obvious to us as well!

How long's a piece of string? Days, weeks or months!
Your solicitor will give an idea of timescales re legal aspects, the EA or Buyer may give an idea of whether the survey has thrown up any other problems. Buyer might try to renegotiate price based on damp or whatever. Up to you whether to reduce price and speed things along in that case.

It can happen very very quickly if you are prepared to do a deal on price.... if the buyer then moves fast..

Or, you can hold on, be brave & see if you get what you want..

It really is a piece-of-string question.

I always reckon 6 months from deciding you want somewhere to getting the keys is a reasonable planning guess, but it can we a week or 2 years....

    Sorry to hear about mum.
