The new jar sizes have 40g less sauce in them (500g comapred to 540g).
On top of that they've change the receipe so the main ingredient is now water instead of actual food.
Just to really rub it in, they've also massively reduce the quantity of many of the more expensive ingredients (eg peppers) and replaced them with cheap stuff such as onions.
It goes without saying that the price has of course stayed exactly the same and of course the new version tastes like crap.
All other varieties are 40g smaller too so stock up on the old sizes if you can find them
This is amazing - did you get this information from MI5 or the CIA ?
Or did you, as I suspect, read it off the label ? In which case, whatever it might be, it isn't a "rip-off" !
Perhaps it's a "con" or a "scam" or a .........................
Perhaps I should take my tomatoes back to Lidl, I've just read they are over 90% water - that isn't on the label.0 -
Well actually all of the SELs said 540g if you're going to be pedantic, and some supermarkets still advertise it as 540g online. E.g. Ocado:

(and they don't have any stock of the old size otherwise I would have bought it when I was in the store)0 -

How? Ocado don't have stores. And if you meant a Waitrose store I think you will find that Ocado deliveries comes from a warehouse not a store.0 -
They were reduced to £1 at Asda last week, and I noticed the older, larger ones lurking at the back of the shelves.0

Have to agree, had Pataks sauce last night and it was horrible, it used to be very good. I didn't realise until I read this that they have been "improved" - no doubt in their terms a bullet in the head would be improved ventilation to stop your brain overheating. Avoid !!!!!0

You should give making your own curry pastes a go. It costs so little to do (providing you have the spices and herbs needeed) and tastes so much better. I make the pastes from the Jamie Oliver Ministry of food book and they are easy to make and taste lovely.
The spices etc are a bit of a spend if you don't have them but you get so many curries out of a few jars of spices.Jellynose0 -
I buy jars of own brand curry paste and dilute with a tin of tomatoes/ plain yoghurt/ coconut cream and water depending on whether I want a tomato or creamy curry. Much cheaper and very little extra effort.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0
