Once every year or so, Intego - a highly respected Mac software company - puts together a bundle of excellent applications from itself and a handful of other manufacturers, offering the lot at a knockdown price, for a limited period, on a special webpage, usually called MacPromo. The last time it did this was in July 2008.

It's just announced a new one; this runs for three weeks, until 31 October 2009.

The saving is 90% and the deal is here.

For a mere £40 you get all the following 12 applications and utilities:

Intego - Virus Barrier X5
Intego - Net Barrier X5
Intego - Content Barrier X5
Intego - Fileguard X5
Intego - Personal Backup X5
Intego - Personal Antispam X5
MOApp - MyWallet
JoeSoft - Klix
Absolute - Computrace LoJack
Macware - WebGhost
Micromat - Tech Tool Pro 5
Smith Micro - Spring Cleaning

plus, for the first 10,000 purchasers, GagaFactory - Radio Gaga, free.

More details of each one are here.

They are all Universal Binary and all are Snow Leopard compliant. They run on both Intel Macs and PowerPC Macs, under OS 10.4, OS 10.5 and OS 10.6.

This is a marvellous offer: many of these programs would cost more than £40 to purchase individually. In total, they would cost £400.

You download them online and, for an additional £12, you can opt to be be sent a CD containing a hard copy of the lot (by post, from France).

If you've got a Mac, you should most definitely check this one out! :money:

That's certainly a good deal if you're after all that stuff.

Though, much of it can be duplicated with free software, or with tools in OS X itself. And the need for all that security software (even on Windows nowadays, never mind a Mac) is debatable.

Tech Tool would probably be worth the £40 though, so it's a worthwhile deal for some.

Strangely enough, according to people who sell anti-malware applications for the Mac, they do.

Knowledge is knowing that tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is knowing not to put it in a fruit salad.

Thinking is not what you do best. (Well, I hope it's not what you do best.)

Knowledge is knowing that one's house has never yet been burgled. Wisdom is knowing not to leave the front door open.

Reading is not what you do very well, either. This is a general hardware and software security bundle, not an anti-malware bundle. The non-anti-malware applications and utilities are well worth the bargain price alone: the anti-malware can thus be regarded as free - and a wise precaution to take.

But perhaps you are so wise that you don't waste valuable Mac-bashing time on things such as securing your Internet connection and backing up your data.
