Duropal worktops

Options
Hello again
After my previous thread on bushboard worktops, I'm now looking at other options. I received some samples of Duropal worktops today but my builder had never heard of them (although he says that as they're German they're bound to be good) and I can't seem to find any online reviews, although plenty of people seem to sell them.
Has anyone here got one or installed them and what did you think of them? Are they good quality?
Any opinions welcome as I'm finding the decision making on worktops quite tough!
Cheers
Ayesha

  • We had Duropal worktops in our kitchen which was installed around 13 years ago. My ex-hubby still lives in the house and they are still like new, apart from one tiny chip which I caused by dropping the heavy round blade of my electric slicing machine on it. I think that would have marked most surfaces apart from maybe solid granite!

In my current house I have the glossy black fake granite effect laminate and would not recommend it to anyone. I hate it, it has loads of scratches on it and water marks unless you polish it dry every time you wipe it down. Too much like hard work.

    Would highly recommend Duropal.

I had them in my last house. I found them to be very good.
  • Had 2 lengths of Duropal worktop installed this week in the quadra profile and looks stunning. Well pleased.

Thanks guys, you've made me very happy! Now we just have to settle on a design :-)
  • Hi,

I have also heard that Duropal worktops are very good. A kitchen person (!) I spoke to recommended that the 'TC' finish is the most hard-wearing. From the samples I got this this a matt finish. I was also advised, that unless I love cleaning (hmm... that'll be a 'no'), to steer clear of polished and shiny finishes.

DOn't know if you're cutting them yourself, but I have just been googling for stores to supply uncut boards, and www.diy-kitchens.com or www.sheppardsdiy.co.uk look like they are the cheapest. Haven't ordered yet though so can't comment on what they are like but sheppards looks like a good supplier (area code phone number etc.) so will probably go for them.

Please let me know if you find anywhere cheaper!!

I can vouch for Sheppards. They're a two-branch DIY shop in Coventry and have been around for donkeys years. If you ever need a half length of worktop and don't really care what you get (utility room, garage, that kind of thing) then they keep a load in the racks and flog them cheap. Only helpful if you live near Coventry, I guess.

I have Duropol worktops, but they're not long in so I can't tell you how hard wearing they are.

I run a Maintenance Company and we often fit kitchens. We use Duropal worktops alot. They are a good quality product and last for many years. I would gladly recommend them.
