    It is impossible to spend £165 a month on electricity if gas is used for heating.
    Oh yes it is & a lot more besides, though would be stunning if an old lady in a flat could use so much.

    KN, give me a scenario where someone could spend £2,000 a year(say 20,000kWh:eek:) when they use gas for heating?

    Thats over 54kw a day thats well over what a family of 4 would use around 14-18 kw a day if you dont use electric for heating

    Is there not a chance she is high user because being retired she would be home more and would be using the heating, lights, etc more frequently. How big is this ground floor flat? Don't SE have a 'Care Line' which means meters are read regularly?

    She uses gas for heating!

    You need to read the meter for her and submit it to SE.
    Check it weekly for her, and see if there's a cheaper tariff she can go on...
