Seller sent wrong item.... Am i going to be left out of pocket? :(

Bit of advice really, ive never had anything like this happen before but....
I bought a TV stand on ebay at beggining of the week for £62.99 free del. It arrived this morning and a corner unit has come (Which the seller also sells) But i bought a normal one. Could easily be an innocent mistake. But not only that the unit is significantly darker than shown in the photo. I have emailed the seller explaining could be an innocent mistake etc and also mentioned the colour so waiting to hear back from them.
But, i only see 2 ways around this now... Either keep the one i got, which i hate or be left out of pocket having to return it by courier for refund. Which will be expensive its really heavy!!
I dont know what to do, i know im probably panicking over nothing but items like this i usually collect but this time i didnt
I cant afford atm to even afford a courier to return but also cant afford to just lose the £62.99.
What should i do? What normally happens in these circumstances? Any help appreciated!!

I would see what the seller says first. I would explain to them the situation and you are not happy. They may pay for a courier to collect it.0

I believe there's some sort of rule/law that says that the buyer shouldn't be worse off for buying something, but I'm really not sure. Sorry

I would certainly ask them to pay for the cost of the return and send the right item (or refund you). If you are left out of pocket in any way I'd leave negative feedback (but you can't threaten them with this!).
This has happened to me with a much lower value item and I convinced the seller to pay the return postage (on principle as the amount itself was small) and send the correct item. In the end I left positive feedback as I eventually got the item I paid for even though I wasn't convinced it was a mistake (their feedback suggested they were regularly sending out a cheaper item than the one in their photo).0 -
i've got a similar situation with something i am returning elsewhere, i wont get the full amount and the return postage back
things arent the way they were before, you wouldnt even recognise me anymore- not that you knew me back then

Update... And help please! :-(
When i recieved the unit i ebay messaged seller to say they had sent the wrong one and that the colour is significantly darker to that of the unit in the pic. Asked for unit to be returned and for a refund.
Took my daughter out for the afternoon and when i come home i had a "Missed collection" card behind the door! Checked emails and he had booked courier to collect it. I dont sit by the laptop all day so had no idea he would book a collection for that day or id of stayed in!! Sent a few emails but got nothing, so on tuesday i opened a dispute with paypal. He replied on there saying he would arrange collection but by me not being in i had already cost him £10. I apologised but explained i wasnt in, would of been had i had notice! I havent heard anything now since tuesday, sent a couple of messages on paypal dispute but still nothing :-(
What should i do? I now have no tv unit, £62.99 out of pocket and a great big box sat in the kitchen. Im worried about keep asking him about collection in case he tells me to stuff it and to arrange it myself meaning it will cost me, which wouldnt be cheap. :-( Help, never had to sort anything like this beforeLaugh Often, Love Much, Live Well.0 -
I'd email and say you want confirmation on date and time of expected collection and you require at least 48 hours notice. I would also state that you have not 'cost' him £10 - he has cost himself this, by sending the incorrect item. If you can be bothered, I'd be inclined to phone them. Quite possibly easiest way to organise it?Baby Boy arrived March 25th 2010 - 17 days late & 8lb 10oz :j0

I would keep the dispute going and respond to any messages through the dispute. Ask the seller for the telephone number of the courier so you can arrange with them a time to collect. My OH is home during the day but at work for a few hours morning and afternoon and couriers are normally happy to call between these times to save them having to keep coming back.0 -

Thanks, im useless on the phone id end up in bits so think if he has not responded by the morning i will get my OH too. Will his contact number be in ebay/paypal?
Im really upset by it all, £62.99 might not be alot to some. But to me it is espicially when i saved it just to get this unit!!!Laugh Often, Love Much, Live Well.0
